Course Maintenance Update – February 2015

We have completed the aeriation works over the first part of this week with all greens tined with very minimal disruption to the putting surfaces.

We used our new Tru-Green roller (Iron) on Wednesday for the first time and I have had nothing but rave reviews from people who have played since then.

“Greens are so much smoother” “So much faster”
After relaying this information back to our Head Greenkeeper he assures me after the Stimpmeter reading yesterday that the greens are now running 18 inches faster over a 9 foot putt (Good News).

The greens will be cut on Friday this week, so we are doing our best to have the greens in as good a shape as possible.

In my 24 years as the Professional at Uphall Golf Club I have never seen the course in better condition given the time of year.

With the start of the season fast approaching (yippee) we have a few loose ends to tie up with our bunkering programme which has involved 17 bunkers being renovated over the winter period.

All these bunkers will be in “play” as soon as we allow the new turf to knit in and around the bankings and approaches. Players please take extra care when exiting new bunkers as damage has already occurred which will require additional time and cost to repair..

We now have daily updates on twitter, so why not follow us there @UphallGolf.

Thank you again for everyone`s patience over another busy “Winter Programme” and I am sure we will all enjoy another successful season on our first class facility.
