The Uphall Ladies section held a very successful Ladies Greensomes Open (Pink Day) on Sunday 26 October, raising a staggering £1,156.01 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Despite the weather, the dreaded combination of very high winds and driving rain, only one group failed to stay the course (they’ll remain nameless, well, it was Margaret Meldrum’s group!) which was shortened to 16 holes. Margaret’s waterproofs had given up!
All our visitors really enjoyed the day despite the weather and will come back next next year. Since we first ran the competition in 2010 the event has gone from strength to strength, now featuring high on lots of folks “must play” events.
As always, these things don’t run themselves and huge thanks are due to everyone involved, Allan Watkins, Jim Findlay and Allan Robertson who manned the desks and kept all the ladies in check, and also for drawing the winners of the raffle.
Thanks to everyone who made such generous donations, provided sponsorship and all who bought raffle tickets, which all added to the success of the day and most importantly helped us reach such a fantastic total for charity.
Here’s to a bigger and better event (in better weather!!!) in 2015.
