Spain here we come – November Home-Nations Update

As we’re sure you’ll have gathered by now, the Club’s Junior Squad came through the final qualifying stage at Gleneagles to book their place at the final stage of the Home Nations Inter-Club Championship in Andalucia, Spain, in March 2016 where they will represent Scotland along with their counterparts from Murrayfield Golf Club, Edinburgh.

Other finalists are, Halamshire and Burhill (England), Green Meadow and Vale of Glamorgan (Wales) and Kilkenny (Eire) and Tandragee (Northern Ireland).

The tournament runs from 5th to 11th March 2016, with competition days being 7th to 10th March.
Our playing squad and designated support team are traveling on jet2 from Edinburgh to Malaga on Friday 4th March, returning on Friday 11th.

We have received further details from the organisers and these are to be found in the attached document. This gives details of location, etc and also a couple of options for specific hotels.

To try and keep things as co-ordinated as possible, Past Captain, Tom Flannigan, has kindly offered the support of his Secretary to coordinate supporters’ accommodation requirements with the organisers. Please liaise with Dorothy at Apex who can be emailed at:

The organisers have booked out the whole hotel, so rooms should be available in the team hotel or others nearby.

Flights are not included in supporters package and are likely to fill up quickly, so early booking is advised if you wish to come along – we’d be delighted to have your support!

As you can imagine, there is a cost attached to participating in as large an event at this and whilst some of the cost for the team is covered by the organisers and their Corporate Sponsors such as Cleveland / Srixon, there is a fairly significant amount to be contributed on our side.

Fund raising efforts are already underway, with the forthcoming Texas Scramble on 21 November and there will be other events and initiatives in the months ahead. Rest assured, the boys will be working hard to contribute and are already organising their own separate fund raising activities away from the Club, such as bag packing at local supermarkets.

At this stage, we’d like to record our appreciation to everyone who has supported the boys, whether that be by way of transport, sponsorship, contributions for fundraising, donations, playing in competitions or simply coming along to cheer the boys on, especially at a bitterly cold Gleneagles a couple of weeks back.

Thanks to Sandy Calder for contributing the photos in this bulletin – there are many, many more – we’re trying to find a way to post these centrally without crashing our website!
