Course
With Summer now upon us (doesn’t feel like it right now!) we hope everyone is making the most of some improved weather conditions in recent weeks compared to the very wet start to the season we had to endure.
On the course we are really seeing the hard work of our Greens staff paying off after a tough winter and spring, with record rainfall.
Aesthetically the course looks magnificent given the recent challenges with rain and our greens are back to running as we’ve come to expect over the past few seasons.
A massive well done and thanks to all of our Greens Team!
Clubhouse
As recently advised, we now have a target opening date of 10 August, which is Club Championship Finals Day. As time goes on, we will be able to give more certainty that the date will be met and details of what the day will look like (other than, of course, our finalists battling it out over 18 or 36 holes!).
It was great to get the scaffolding down to let us see more of how the Clubhouse will look and first impressions are really positive. The steps and railings will go in soon and work on the patio/walkways will get underway too.
Inside, we have a lot going on, with the detailed fit out continuing – painting, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and flooring contractors all working in-tandem. With such a busy building it’s very difficult to get a real idea of how things will look, so we’ve held off with internal photos for now – we’re sure you’ll be delighted with the finished article.
More news to follow as work continues.
Professional Golf and Retail Services
Since Gordon intimated that he’d not be returning to his role as our PGA professional, he has been working with the Committee to identify options for a new Professional Golfer.
Following that exercise, we have entered into an arrangement with Craig Donnelly Golf Limited (“CDG”), a company which provides golf services to a number of clubs/facilities, including Dunfermline Golf Club (aka Pitfirrane), Cluny Clays, a multifunctional golf/activity centre near Kirkcaldy and La Manga, Spain. Read more about CDG by following the link:

CDG will provide PGA professional led services to the Club, including tuition with trackman launch monitor, competition management and retail services with a fully stocked pro shop.
CDG have appointed Sam Craigon to be our new PGA professional – Sam I is moving back to Scotland to continue his career after a 4 year stint at Warrington Golf Club and we look forward to welcoming him to Uphall Golf Club.
Prior to his time at Warrington, Sam had spells at Balbirnie Park and Panmure and holds a Foundation Degree in Professional Golf.
Hospitality
Simon Preece and his Food Creations team have been closely involved in the development of the bar, kitchen and restaurant areas and are now establishing their team for Uphall Golf Club.
Menus are being finalised and a programme to make sure they’re ready to hit the ground running has been developed.
We hope that you’re as excited as we are as we look forward to the start of a new era for our Club.
