GORDON LAW PGA PROFESSIONAL
Gordon Law, our Head Club Professional, has been with the Club for 27 years and was the Club’s first professional. Gordon has been playing golf since the age of 3, following in his Grandfathers footsteps who was Captain at the then Ingliston Golf Club and was determined Gordon was going to play golf!
Gordon is extremely modest and describes himself as an “ordinary Club Pro” however, not many Club Professionals can boast to having played all 4 rounds in the Open (1996 at Royal Lytham & St Anne’s) or having won British Club Professional Championship and the Scottish PGA Championship.
At one time or other Gordon has held 7 course records, which is no mean achievement. He’s known to his fellow professional as “the Lawman”!
He was selected 3 times to represent GB&I in the PGA Cup and cites beating their American counterparts as one of his career highlights.
His reputation precedes him and if members are at other Clubs and say they’re from Uphall, the usual retort is “that’s Gordon Law’s Club”, so he’s made a great impression through his efforts on and off the course.
Gordon plays less these days and is focussed not only on providing a great service to the members in his shop, but also coaching our younger members – with a teaching philosophy that’s easy to understand and at least in theory equally easy to execute.
This is all on top of carrying out his duties as Club Captain, which he takes very seriously, as anyone who gets involved in organising an event will definitely know.
